The truth would be used in politics if it had any utility. Really, any candidate who tells the truth looses almost automatically.

Thomas Sowell, who is seriously on my good guy list puts it like this.

“The fact that so many successful politicians are such shameless liars is not only a reflection on them, it is also a reflection on us.  When the people want the impossible, only liars can satisfy.” Thomas Sowell

What do politicians tell voters? Those who win, tell them what they want to hear. Now, that doesn’t automatically preclude the truth. But, are there enough voters who want to hear the truth to put an honest politician in office? No, there are not, absolutely not.

Gee, that is really easy to figure out. When one doesn’t believe lies, seeing something like this is completely obvious.
