There is no good will in politics. In democracy the only relevant force is self interest. Unless you have political power, which you don’t, any law that gets passed benefits others who actually have political power, at your expense. Do not expect to get a good deal at the end of the fiscal cliff issue. Unless average people learn to be completely ruthless in dealing with politicians, they will be at a more serious disadvantage with every day that passes.
