Fantasy Free A Way To Survive

Happiness is achieved mostly by viewing the world we live in through the prism of fantasy. Is that all that bad? It doesn’t seem to be. How else is a person to be happy in a universe where all living things must survive in a system of dominance and subservience? The easiest way is to replace harsh realities with euphemisms and more pleasant notions. Decades can go by where it seems not to matter whether a person lives in a dream world or stares cold realities directly in the face. Most of the time it may actually not matter. So, why take a fantasy free approach to live? Very simply, fantasy free is a way to survive in a crisis period.

During a world war, fantasy free is a better approach as it is in a depression or in any number of situations when looking reality coldly in the face puts a person at a distinct advantage. I have studied history for many years and I am not sure I can find a period where the citizens of in any country were as divorced from reality as they are in the United States today. Today, Americans for the most part believe our military is fighting for noble causes when they are in fact fighting for profits for people with enough political power to have troops deployed out of personal interest. Politicians are believed to be representing citizens when they are in fact fleecing their constituents. Government is seen as naturally honest when in fact truth is not used in politics at all unless by accident. Government is seen as a benevolent institution when it is and always has been a play ground for predators. These are what I call reality gaps. The country’s economy and political system are in the process of collapsing and the average person is not even aware there is a problem.

In a different time and place I would not even be writing this blog. At this particular time in history it is of extreme importance, at least for a little while, to shed euphemisms and expose fantasies. The well being of you and your family depends upon it. Your lives may also depend on it. It is time to sober up and face the crisis. You might ask, what crisis?

Your government is not functioning as a government. Your government runs about the same ways as does a crime family. Your economic system has been sabotaged. In a free market, government imposes free market discipline. Today your government creates feeding frenzies for the rich and politically powerful.

The economy in the United States is going to completely collapse. The entire system of government may fail. There is no way a government as corrupt as the one we have today can hold together. Laws no longer apply to everyone. Powerful people do not have to obey the law at all. In other cases laws are enforced according to what is politically profitable. Otherwise intelligent people are walking around repeating sound bites their brains have recorded and insisting they know what they are talking about. I would rather tell you that we are on the eve of a golden age where there will be nothing but peace and prosperity. But the collapse is coming.

In the coming days fantasy free thinking will be a way to survive.

The truth is a hard sell. Fantasy Free Economics gains readers one at a time. Major search engines simply do not list blogs which disagree with their political agenda. As long as folks share the link to this blog and others speaking out against the grain, the truth will at least trickle into the public consciousness.

Surviving in the Present Moment

Nature gives animals a gift of discernment in the present moment. Dangers and opportunities are instantly and correctly assessed to facilitate survival. Animals can be fooled but the odds of getting the situation right are astronomically high. Most fish don’t take the bait. Most deer don’t die at the feeder. Within a given species, animals are not vulnerable to deception from one another.

The human species is different.  Person to person deception is a constant. There are strange patterns for dealing with threats, opportunities and dangers. For humans, deception is a valuable tool for survival. People create fantasies and euphemisms to replace reality so as to manipulate the behavior of others. Predators use deception to trick prey that is not part of their own species. Human beings constantly bait one another for personal gain. False pictures are created to facilitate herding and living off the efforts of others.

The result is a human’s ability to discern is inhibited by viewing the present moment through a cloud of fantasies and euphemistic definitions. Institutions are defined one way but they function as another. Halos are placed over the heads of certain members of society who are deemed anointed. The universe’s hostilities are explained away and modified in order to comfort the mind.

If there is danger or opportunity in the moment, chances are it will go unrecognized.  In the United States all of our institutions are assumed to be doing the task they are assigned to do. Conservative Republicans like to use the acronym RINO to describe members who are liberals in disguise. They are what they are in name only. In practice all of our institutions do something other than the task they for which they are intended. The RINO concept can be applied to just about any institution or person in high office. It could be accurately said that the Supreme Court is a court in name only. The Federal Reserve could be called a central bank in name only. Senators and congressmen are representatives in name only.  The list is almost endless.

The public generally believes the fantasies and euphemisms that wrongly describe the real functions of the people and institutions which are ostensibly operating on their behalf.

The natural gift of discernment is largely diffused withing the human species. This is why I go such an extent to make sure I my mind is free from fantasy and euphemistic definitions when I think about economics and politics. In Fantasy Free Economics, the president gets no halo. The president is just one of the animals acting is self interest.  Certain people like doctors, judges, teachers and preachers are not assumed to be morally superior. Again, they are just animals living in life’s arena and acting out of self interest. In economics self interest is the only visible incentive.

I don’t live my life this harshly but, as an economist getting the right take on things has preference over everything else. In another time and place I wouldn’t even be writing this blog. If there were not so many economic and political hazards on the horizon there would be be point in it.

At about 2:14 of the video, Uncle Remus casually adds “Takin’ and leavin’ is the way of the world.”

Understand this one verse out of this Uncle Remus store and you will already understand economics better than the countless professors who get paid for the pretense of knowledge.

Is taking and leaving not the way of congress? Is taking and leaving not the way of corporate lobbyists? This is said as Brer Rabbit is in the process of stealing lettuce out of an old man’s garden.  Tragically, these stories are deemed racist and aren’t usually read to children any more. In stories like this children learn the way the world really works instead of being groomed for nothing other than functioning within our system of herd dynamics.

Rather than being insulted by these stories, blacks should be proud of the wisdom they impart. The book may have been written by a white man, but I don’t doubt that he actually heard all of these stories from old black people in the south. Story telling is a lost art. The Uncle Remus stories are more ripe with real world wisdom than all of the silly politically correct children’s books on the market today.

 

Nature’s Little Gift to You

Life’s basic questions have never been answered. With mainstream economists those questions don’t matter. For those of use who prefer being right to being popular, basic questions make a world of difference. All issues academia does not wish to deal with are routinely dismissed. They have no chance of being right about any of them.

What is life? What is consciousness? If we can’t answer these questions, there is no way we can call life a gift. The only evidence we have implies that life is an obligation. The sensations of pleasure and pain keep us from abandoning our mission, whatever it might be. It is too painful to leave and life can be so much fun we want to stay and participate.

Fortunately, nature gives living things what they need to optimize our chances of surviving while we are here. All animals have the ability to recognize dangers and opportunities in the present. This gift is not flawless, but it is amazingly accurate. Notice how a dog is alerted by sudden loud noises. In the life of a dog, a loud noise usually comes from a source that is not good for the dog. The same dog recognizes conditions where potential food is around.

Human beings have similar abilities. At first glance, a human can recognize things and circumstances for what they are in the present moment. There is a problem however. Through imagination, a human can and does create an alternative  reality for himself and others. I mentioned earlier that we don’t know what life is. The process of being alive and staying alive is so hash and brutal, humans compulsively see it as more gentle than it really is.

The reason fantasy free economics works so well is that answers and responses to life’s issues are highly accurate without the confusing process of muddling through an alternate reality that is in place just as a source of comfort.

Nature gives us all the gift of highly accurate discernment in the present moment but only if we are fantasy free. We can accept the reality that is in place, as in the one nature gives us. When that is the practice right, wrong, good and indifferent become obvious.  Commonly, functional reality is that which a person creates for himself or what is created for him by others.

Mainstream economics is based on numerous erroneous assumptions that have value in the sense that they make life seem more pleasant. They are a hindrance when there is a problem that needs to solved.

When bad things happen and it appears people are not thinking, it seems that way because people actually are not thinking.
Here is a reminder. Three to five % of the population is born genetically different. This is nature’s way of providing kings, queens and chiefs. Back in the old days if there was a vacant monarchy or something the “genetically different” would have sword fights or whatever to eliminate one another. The winner would become king, queen or chief.
The “genetically different” have characteristics the rest of us lack. They are sociopaths. They have an inborn compulsion to manage the lives of other people. They have an insatiable thirst for power. They are candidates for public office and occupy elected offices.
Today the “genetically different” use democracy as a means of gaining power. There is no outright killing but the competition is still ruthless. Sometimes elected leaders do great things but the great things are incidental. All that matters to them is gaining, holding and exercising power.
Power is gained by convincing you the citizen that government can do for you, things you can’t do for yourself. Government in a democracy grows without bounds because spending is a primary tool for acquiring power and for exercising power.
The 95 percent who are not born to take control have a genetic predisposition to serve a master. In today’s world, this translates into a pro-government bias. Government is assumed to have problem solving abilities which it in fact does not have. Belief in government and what it is believed to be capable of doing is automatic.
Freedom and prosperity of a middle class are new developments on the evolutionary timeline. Unfortunately, the human species is not genetically ready to be free. Currently we are regressing back into servitude. For the foreseeable future living standards will be falling dramatically.
Success in a democracy requires that people think independently and override their ancient eternal voices that call them back to servitude. This is simply not happening. The best I can think to do is to adopt an every man for himself. The economic and political situations are going to get very distressing. I can’t help but think we will be better off to the extent we see it coming.
