The Truth Will Set You Free

Download PDF Version

truth-of-dorJesus told his disciples “and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”  John 8:32. This statement by Jesus, like most of what he said is treated as a platitude and seldom investigated for meaning. What is seldom asked is  is free from what?

He never said the truth would make folks happy or even be something they would choose to deal with. Initial exposure to the truth is stressful.

The quote below is one the clerics pretend isn’t in the scriptures.

“He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.” John 12:25

In the secular world, the one we live in, people are animals, no better or worse than the lower creatures. This is the system we can all be free from as a result of knowing the truth. The dilemma is that life will be more difficult.  Lose this life and gain the other. The other is permanent. Observe people as animals, and you will know what to expect every time.

At certain times, knowing the truth is more important than at others. The United States economy is in the process of falling apart. To the few of us who deal in truth there is no other possible outcome given the way decisions in government are made. In the animal world, people worship one another and use government as a dominance and subservience hierarchy. Work is a second choice and government is the natural place to go to live off the efforts of others.  To control government and guarantee positive economic outcomes, this is the truth that must be known. One shortfall of secular living is that there is a business cycle that reoccurs because using government to allocate economic resources destroys the economy periodically.  The last complete destruction of the economy occurred during the Great Depression following the crash of 1929.

The only advice I can give is to know ahead of time that most Americans are going to lose everything they have. The best to be in the small group that hangs on to a few assets is to know the depression is coming and make every preparation possible. Goodwill only exists in a free market system. Since the free market system has been dismantled, the depression will be a case of every man for himself.

The truth is a hard sell. Fantasy Free Economics gains readers one at a time. Major search engines simply do not list blogs which disagree with their political agenda. As long as folks share the link to this blog and others speaking out against the grain, the truth will at least trickle into the public consciousness.

Human Nature

0c2603be987a76bc7d7e6620227b-is-human-nature-good-yes-or-evil-noIs human nature good or evil? For the purpose of studying economics it doesn’t matter. All we need to do is observe behavior without putting a value on it in terms of good or bad. How can we expect people to behave in the economic arena? To find this out we have to observe them and what we see will be correct. Living things are self serving and this allows them to survive. Human beings are no exception.

Public policy ends up being based on the way we would like others to behave and ignores the fact that each person will be self serving no matter what. Another way to look at this is that each individual sees himself as special but expects those in the public eye to act selflessly. It doesn’t work that way. It never has and never will.  Why do so many laws work to the determent to the individual? Obama Care is a good example because the lobbyists who wrote the bill were self serving just as they should be expected to be.

Those who are grounded in religion should not be offended at this approach. Economics is the study of secular world behavior.  Profits, messiahs and avatars offer an alternative.

From Mark 12:17

“”Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.””

This statement is too often taken to serve as a justification for taxing citizens in a a country until they cannot see. What it really means is that the spiritual world is completely non-attached to the secular world. Economics studies behavior as it occurs in the secular world and within the laws of dominance and subservience.

Religion offers an escape form the system. Personally I have accepted the offer but that doesn’t change the nature of the secular world.

The Pope and Jesus

pope-francisMost Christians have never read the new testament. One of the aspects of Jesus’ ministry is that he was non attached with respect to the politics and government of his time. He did ridicule the Pharisees and Sadducees over their personal behavior but stuck to religion and hypocritical conduct.

Pope Francis seems to be inept reaching folks spiritually. Perhaps he is trying to make up for that by trying to change the world politically.

It is good to treat a religious leader with respect providing he is acting in that capacity. Pope Francis is turning out to be just another political hack with ridiculous thoughts and ideas. Previously, I suggested that Christians pray that pope gain some insight into the subjects he feels a need to talk about.

After his speech addressing a joint session of congress, it would be good for Catholics to pray for themselves because this guy is going to get them in a lot of trouble. If anyone else starts listening to him, we are all in trouble.
