Lies News Media and Ben Carson

news-mediaAs regular readers may know, I don’t support Ben Carson.

His recent current trouble with the media and accusations of telling lies serve as an opportunity to strengthen a point I continuously make.  So the news media is trying to take out Republican candidates. Is this a surprise? It could only be a surprise if the term “news media” is taken literately. “News media” is a euphemistic term as it is used today.

When the “news media” is studied in keeping with how it functions rather than how it is defined, there is a different picture. What is called media today is actually an opinion management service. Relevant news is always left out of daily reports. Currently the media is dealing with whether or not Ben Carson is always telling the truth while not reporting on genuine trouble at home and all around the globe. Is this by accident? Of course not. Opinion management is the primary activity of organizations which are called news media. Looking at it like this, there should not be any surprise that Ben Carson is under attack. The news media, functions as an opinion management service and actually prevents people from being informed. Informed people are a threat to the media, government and the current corporate structure. Real news is something a person has to uncover on his own. I do it constantly and most real news is not reported or even covered up.

My opposition to Ben Carson is based on his naive understanding of economic issues and corporatist leanings. The fair tax is always a red flag.

How to Spot a Conservative

Calvin Coolidge was the last Republican President to attempt to rein in government. Really, I am not sure any other president ever tried to rein in government.

Calvin Coolidge was the last Republican President to attempt to rein in government. Really, I am not sure any other president ever tried to rein in government.

Why do I constantly write about politics in an Economics Blog? In a free market economy, government does not pay a role in the distribution of resources. In the American economy, which is not a free market economy, political power determines how resources are used. There are no conservatives in either the house or the senate. The last presidential candidate to suggest real free market solutions was Ron Paul in 2012. He was beat up so badly by the Republican National Committee, Fox News and the media that he had no chance.

After 2008, my acid test for a real conservative was, did he support TARP? That was a very, soft test but it eliminated all but a handful of law makers and virtually all “conservative” talk  show hosts. Today, I know of no conservatives running for office.

Someday a conservative may emerge. What would a conservative do that is not being done by today’s politicians? A conservative would have plans to close government agencies. You won’t hear it this year. Of course, the ideal would be candidates offering to serve strictly as delegates. That was my position in 2010 when I ran for congress. I lost very badly and voters could not understand the concept.

Voters will end up serving their representatives as they have been doing for most of our history.

Political Correctness and Euphemisms

euphemism-misc1Lately there has been a lot of talk about political correctness, Fox News and Donald Trump. Political correctness has the flavor of a euphemism but it is a little different. Political correctness is a lie you are required to believe to participate.

Euphemisms are to humans what sand is to an ostrich. There is great comfort in believing what makes one feel safe and comfortable.

This if fine until it is necessary to fix something that is wrong in society. Since people and all of their institutions are treated as how we want them to to be rather than how they really are, problems are unsolvable.

All I do in my common sense economics approach is to look at the universe clear of the prism of euphemisms everyone else looks through. Anyone can do it. As soon as another economist takes up the habit I will no longer be the worlds best economist. I am certainly not the most intelligent or the most highly credentialed, just euphemism free. Anybody can do it.

Treat people and institutions according to how they function rather than by how they are defined and things clear up real quick. I warn you though it is not always pleasant.

Deciphering the News

FILE_BREAKING_NEWSOnce a person, thing, activity, process or whatever, gets defined for us, the definition sticks long past the point where it applies. News as it is presented from the various outlets is more to manage public opinion than to provide meaningful information.  That accounts for the discourse between Fox News and Donald Trump. The difference between Trump and the other candidates is that he is not willing to have it that way.

In truth, this election comes down to voters trying to pick a candidate they wish to serve as opposed to picking a candidate to serve them. It has been years since ordinary people have had representation in the legislature. They believe they have representation but they are unwittingly serving the politicians. The institution of representative democracy disappeared years ago.

Muslims and Dr. Ben Carson

carsonI would never support Ben Carson for president because he is a clueless buffoon on the subject of economics. Either that or he has owned by the financial sector.

Still, Americans are stupid enough to think he said something wrong with respect to electing a Muslim for president.

The constitution does not mention the criteria citizens use when deciding who to vote for. Dr.Carson never said the constitution should forbid Muslims from running for president. Dr. Carson said that in his opinion electing a Muslim would be bad for the country.

Of course the news media has convinced the cannon fodder that he said something else. By the way Fox News and the Republican National Committee are one in the same.

Dr. Carson is in fact a corporatist and that is not good. That is his primary fault as a candidate. He also claims to be an evangelistic Christian. Who would really expect an evangelistic Christian of vote for a Muslim for president?

Common Ground, Voters and Candidates

kumbaya2There is enormous common ground between Democratic and Republican voters.

The biggest common ground between voters of all parties is the belief than government can magically solve problems. Probably the second most prevalent attribute is that 100% of voters will deny that belief. After denying that they believe in the magical powers of government, masses talk endlessly about presidents and congress creating jobs. All believe that government needs to make efforts toward insuring economic growth while government has no way to do such a thing. As silly as the notion is, Americans believe they have national health care with Obama Care. Obama Care is a bill that guaranties insurance companies a huge cut of all health care expenditures.

Democrats and Republicans both engage in political correctness. Politically correct speech is a way of making belief in certain lies mandatory if one wants to live comfortably in today’s society.300x458xkumbaya.jpg.pagespeed.ic.fnHd83oV2N Democrats will not allow others to speak negatively about women, gays, and leaders from the civil rights movement. Republicans will not allow others to think of soldiers as anything other than heroes. Nothing derogatory about Christianity is allowed.

The most important thing in a constituents life is his personal comfort. The second most important thing is entertainment. Republican and Democrat voters are much more alike than any admit.

Neither side has any interest in self government. Both sides seek messiahs instead of reining in government and managing those they put in office. These kinds of irresponsible people should not expect any improvement in the country’s situation. Given the stupidity and ineptness of voters, there is no chance of any good coming out of the 2016 elections.imagages

The vast ocean of cannon fodder that makes up the American population suffers from an exaggerated level of perceived self importance. Politicians and others will use the self importance as a tool for exploiting them, as they always do. Out of self interest comes a deluded notion that they have some control over government. They have none. The vote as a tool for governing has been neutralized by controlling public opinion which is easily managed.

What do all of the politicians have in common. Each one is a sociopath because only this type of personality has a chance to win the world’s greatest popularity contest. Politics is far more competitive than professional sports. Presidential politics is the worlds most ruthless activity. Each candidate is running as way of furthering his own self interest while dumb voters see each one as selfless and running out of love for the country.

Every candidate is either a professional corporatist or controlled by big money. Notice that all of the ones who present themselves as conservatives are pushing the flat tax. The very few voters who are aware, know that the flat tax is another gift to the rich. As a rule thumb, it is maladaptive to support a change in the tax code that is not preceded by a decrease in spending. Changes in the tax code are a way of making folks comfortable with outrageous spending levels.

The incomes of the worlds riches people are completely dependent on high levels of government spending. The flat tax guarantees the rich that government won’t shrink in size and shifts a lot of their burden off onto the poor and middle class.

Expect hardships to continue and get worse. There is not much chance the public will smarten up in just over a year. A person can make preparations. A person who has assets in anything but cash or hard assets is asking for trouble.
