Poking Sticks at the Russians

There is no such thing as an innocent government. Our concern should be how innocent is the United States? Are solving problems or, are we causing problems?  Like any country, when we engage is something immoral, we create a process where our loss will be greater than anyone else’s even if we gain some benefit in the immediate time frame.  When the United States engages in immorality, we are acting contrary to natural law.

One of the most common themes in ancient writings is, action that begins with an immoral beginning eventually results in a negative outcome. In these kinds of activities, the costs always amount to more than the benefits.  The communists of the twentieth century justified all that was immoral with the slogan “the end justifies the mean.” The free world eventually started using the same reasoning. Guess what? That is opposite of the way things work in the natural world. The means alone determines the outcome. A moral means guarantees an optimum outcome even though the outcome is completely uncertain at the time the task is undertaken.

Remember the Battle Ship Main. The United States falsely accused the Spanish of blowing up the ship in the Havana Harbor. The purpose was to draw the Spanish into a war, take Cuba from them and confiscate their islands in the Pacific. This all followed the U.S. invasion and occupation of Hawaii in 1893. Was this a good deal for the United States? The United States imperialist period marked the beginning of the war for profit approach that is still practiced today. That in itself is completely immoral and will eventually cause us untold grief.

Had the United States not annexed Hawaii, and stolen Spain’s Pacific Islands, there would have been no Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. There would have been no Bataan death march.  Chances are the U.S. would have never fought Japan. The Russians would have eventually prevailed in WWII. The United States may not have participated in WWII.

No one knows why natural law works. By the time the 1940s rolled around, our imperialist period had been forgotten. I do not know of one circumstance where natural law has failed to work. Models of natural law are all over ancient scriptures.  Find a story in the Old Testament that parallels a modern occurrence. The modern occurrence will turn out the same general way as the one in the old testament it parallels. So far I haven’t found an exception.

It is foolish to accuse the Russians of doing something they are not doing. It is also irresponsible. The consequences could be extremely sever. It may even be legal for the Russians to try and influence the way Americans vote. I have been a political activist for over 50 years. I don’t remember one presidential election when foreign countries did not try to influence the way our citizens  voted.  This is not a good accusation to be making, even if it is true.

Truth on Memorial Day

memorial-day1 The truth has no utility in politics because something that sounds better is always more appealing. Competing for elected positions requires appealing candidates. Candidates who tell the truth always lose.

It is an unpleasant fact, but although is is constantly stated that men and women in uniform have died so the we can be free, military initiatives never have worked that way. The typical war in which the U.S. engages actually creates more danger for American citizens and does nothing to keep anyone free.

World War II is usually mentioned as a necessary war that was unavoidable. There is a very real reason why fighting WW II was necessary. Without the United States having engaged in imperialist undertakings in preceding years, WW II would have been optional. The Spanish American war was fought because Spain was fraudulently held responsible for the sinking of the Battle Ship Main. Of course the Spanish did not sink any American ships. The charges were trumped up and untrue.

The U.S. had no natural right to own any of the Islands in the Pacific where the Japanese attacked Americans. The Philippines were acquired as part of Spain’s surrender agreement. In Hawaii, the U.S. just ousted the emperor and took possession. The U.S. had no option but to declare war, only because we were occupying lands that we had previously stolen.

I have stated countless times that the outcomes of national inititives are not determined by the end in mind. The means is what determines the outcome. This is one of those natural laws which almost no one acknowledges or believes. Any action that is immoral will generate a negative outcome. History provides no cases where this principle has not held true and been validated. The true way our government can keep us free is to be careful to do only moral things.

The outcomes of U.S. imperialist conquests resulted in all of the deaths of Americans during WWII. The imperialist actions were immoral and we lost in the end far more than we gained.

It is good for the self esteem to celebrate the goodness of the American troops who have died in Uniform. It makes it easier to get young people to join the military. Regardless, it is wrong to tell young people they are fighting for freedom when they are really fighting for the business interests of sociopaths who don’t give a damn if soldiers live or die.
