Even a modest bear market will go a long way towards destroying the deep state. Deep State operatives are buying outright to control the trend of the market. What is their alternative?
The choice is to invest more outright or have ones wealth completely devastated by natural market forces. The Deep State has absolutely nothing to loose by using their own resources to support the value they already have. The only alternative is to absorb a guaranteed loss and run the risk of ceasing to exist. Continue reading →
Thinking devoted to the task of survival is a different task than thinking as a way to create happiness. At times it makes sense to emphasize thinking for survival. Without survival happiness is not a possibility. Without surviving somewhat above the subsistence level happiness is not very likely. Continue reading →
This is how I figure things out and anyone can do it. I do mean anyone. There are many interesting things about the present moment. The one thing that is most relevant is that all living things have an innate ability to almost flawlessly recognize danger and opportunities in the present moment. Continue reading →
Download PDF Version As Americans go about their daily lives as individuals, many are brilliant and completely adept at what they do. When they participate in groups or aggregations of people, all but a few are completely stupid.

Politics is the art of getting folks to act according to another wishes without thinking. Continue reading →
When bad things happen and it appears people are not thinking, it seems that way because people actually are not thinking.
Here is a reminder. Three to five % of the population is born genetically different. This is nature’s way of providing kings, queens and chiefs. Back in the old days if there was a vacant monarchy or something the “genetically different” would have sword fights or whatever to eliminate one another. The winner would become king, queen or chief.
The “genetically different” have characteristics the rest of us lack. They are sociopaths. They have an inborn compulsion to manage the lives of other people. They have an insatiable thirst for power. They are candidates for public office and occupy elected offices.
Today the “genetically different” use democracy as a means of gaining power. There is no outright killing but the competition is still ruthless. Sometimes elected leaders do great things but the great things are incidental. All that matters to them is gaining, holding and exercising power.
Power is gained by convincing you the citizen that government can do for you, things you can’t do for yourself. Government in a democracy grows without bounds because spending is a primary tool for acquiring power and for exercising power.
The 95 percent who are not born to take control have a genetic predisposition to serve a master. In today’s world, this translates into a pro-government bias. Government is assumed to have problem solving abilities which it in fact does not have. Belief in government and what it is believed to be capable of doing is automatic.
Freedom and prosperity of a middle class are new developments on the evolutionary timeline. Unfortunately, the human species is not genetically ready to be free. Currently we are regressing back into servitude. For the foreseeable future living standards will be falling dramatically.
Success in a democracy requires that people think independently and override their ancient eternal voices that call them back to servitude. This is simply not happening. The best I can think to do is to adopt an every man for himself. The economic and political situations are going to get very distressing. I can’t help but think we will be better off to the extent we see it coming.

When liberals and socialists start railing about the failure of capitalism, remember that capitalism has not failed. There has never even been any danger in unbridled capitalism. What causes a depression are both the rejection of capitalism and the corruption of capitalism. Capitalism can never fail because it generates an optimum effeciency in resource usage.
What is presented as failure of capitalism are distortions in the market caused by powerful political interests that use democracy to unfairly divert resources to themselves. The failure here is of government allowing corruption of markets.
Despite its enormous benefits, every society rejects capitalism over time. The human species is genetically programmed to assign economic decisions to a central authority. Not by choice but by a compulsion from antiquity, people in a democracy start moving back towards living in servitude. Servitude is more familiar genetically, feels normal, and is opted for without ever engaging in thought.
During the Great Depression, it was often said that capitalism had caused the misery. That notion is completely false. At the darkest days of the Great Depression, rank and file Americans were more prosperous than any group in the world had every been prior to the introduction of free markets.
During the past thirty years, you have allowed your government to dismantle our free market system. Day after day, pillars of prosperity have been removed from our system, with the approval of the voting population. The integrity of our capital markets has been destroyed. There is not one honest financial market in the world today. Our free market system today exists only in the imaginations of the people who live here.
The United States has actually already entered a depression. That fact is just not widely acknowledged. The suffering is not near as intense as it eventually will be. The depression of the current era will be many times worse than the depression of the 1930’s. What you will see will be the economic version of a thousand year flood. During the 1930’s the culture of free enterprise was still alive and viable among the general population. In this 21st century, the culture of free enterprise is completely missing.
Chances are very slim that we will emerge from the coming disaster as an intact free society. In an aggregation where herd behavior is the rule, more not fewer roles will be assigned to government. The process of seeking security by moving to the center of the herd will guarantee an unprosperous outcome. At this point it is highly important that each individual figure out how to take care of himself. For several decades it is going to be a serious every man for himself situation.
Curbside Jimmy’s Hobo Experience
Curbside Jimmy gets a government grant to ride the rails? Where is the outrage?
A characteristic of the truth is that it is not recognizable when it is presented. The truth is dismissed as if it were invisible or just as if nothing was said. With that said, I am going to try it again. Here it is.
One characteristic of animals acting out of instinct is that the animals are not aware they are acting out of instinct. Human beings are no exception. Very often the options people make with respect to choosing elected representatives defy any logical explanation. Then once in office elected officials act in ways no one ever expects. If all of this is confusing, it doesn’t have to be.
Assume that each person is autonomous and acts strictly out of reason and the confusion will continue. Come to realize that much of what happens in society is the result of people behaving instinctively and the confusion starts to disappear.
Ask the simple question, are people autonomous in what they think and do? The answer is that they have the potential to be autonomous, but only operate with autonomy occasionally. Human beings are herd animals first and autonomous beings secondly. Where public life is concerned people have strong biases that cause them to empower government. The urge to have government solidly in charge of their future is so strong, they assume that government has powers reserved only for the super natural. Belief is that government can do such things as creating jobs and that there are experts in government who can solve all problems. That is one reason why the growth is so hard to contain.
Also, much like the social structure of an ant some people are born to perform specialized functions. A small fraction of any population, perhaps five percent are born to compete with each other to be kings or queens. These sorts have an uncontrollable compulsion to manage the affairs of other people. They are also sociopaths. Their need to obtain and hold power is so overwhelming that for them that seeking power is not a choice. Managing your life and your activities is their reason for living.
To king and queen hopefuls democracy has become the stage upon which they compete with one another for power. Mainstream economists operate on the basis that the profit motive is the only driving force in a market based economy. A closer look reveals that the thirst for power is an even greater motivating force and serves as a constant distortion. To be elected to office, the kings and queens must convince you that through them government will do more for you than you are willing to do for yourselves.
The completion for power has evolved to such an intense level that promises are being routinely made to have government do things that cannot be done. The kings and queens have transcended the possible and are now promising for government do the impossible.
The consequence of using democracy to compete for power for all of these years has been to create an dangerously lopsided income distribution and a terribly inefficient allocation distribution of resources. This makes the collapse of our system inevitable. The depression that is coming will be catastrophic.
I frequently write about leaders, and regular people as well, acting in line with instinctive behavior patterns. Do not think that this is an attempt at comedy. Where politics and economics are concerned the majority decisions made are made in keeping with instinctive biases. With this simple observation, I am at a terrific advantage in predicting outcomes in the political and economic arenas. Understand that people, as a norm, make the most important decisions of their lives because they are controlled by instinct. Also understand that in economics and political science people are assumed to be autonomous and acting according to thoughtful intellect.
Understand that instinct and not reason determine what people do a majority of the time and suddenly all of the crazy things going on in the world today will start to make sense. Today public officials as well as candidates for office are seen daily offering to have government do for you things that government cannot do. The most frequent of these offers is that of having the government create jobs. The public never doubts that the government can create jobs, and of course they cannot.
The lets have government create jobs conversation is never going to stop because all but an insignificant percent of the population is blinded to the fact that instinct plays a part in their behavior. You can always expect to people to view humanity in a positive light, see themselves as independent actors and look to government to solve their problems. This is hard wired instinctive behavior.
This is all changing but the changes are coming over hundreds and thousands of years. One of the newest developments in societal evolution is the movement toward liberty and freedom of choice. Since a little earlier than the American Revolution, these new concepts have resulted in huge advance in the quality of lives. Unfortunately we are all genetically pulled backward toward tribal living and serving masters.
